Meet Our Counselors

Vanessa Asha Nank, M.S., LSP

Licensed School Psychologist,
Co-Owner
SS1548

My name is Vanessa Nank, and I’m a licensed School Psychologist in the state of Florida. Inspired by my love for kids and the hope to play a supportive role in their lives, I started my career in the human services field as a Career Counselor for a nonprofit in Long Island, New York. I later went on to take on roles as Case Manager and Family Mediator working with homeless adolescents. I also worked as an educational advocate for kids in foster care. Working with youth along the years helped to solidify my decision in becoming a School Psychologist. I became a School Psychologist in 2014. I worked both in the Yonkers Public School district in New York and the Collier County school district in Florida.

As I worked with students of various cultures, backgrounds, experiences, and beliefs, I began to see a need for mindfulness education. In 2017, I wrote Mindful Me, a children’s book about the benefits of mindful living.

Through my work with youth, I seek to promote social/emotional learning, mindfulness, executive function skills, and self-care. My goal is to encourage self-awareness and self-worth to help youth discover their highest potential.

Maribel Mesina-Geib, M.A., LMHC

Licensed Mental Health Counselor,
Co-Owner
MH21575

My name is Maribel Mesina-Geib, and I’m a Bilingual Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the state of Florida.  I have been working as a mental health practitioner for the last 8 years in Washington State, California, and Florida, specifically serving families, adults, children, adolescents, and couples.  I completed my Bachelor’s degree from the University of California Irvine, double majoring in Sociology and Chicano Latino Studies.  I completed my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology from Northwest University in Kirkland, Washington.

I have worked with a variety of individuals who experience severe/persistent mental illness, mood disorders, personality disorders, anxiety disorders, depressive disorders, self-esteem issues and substance abuse issues. I utilize a blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), and Client Centered Therapy to support my clients. In the last 2 years I have obtained certification in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which helps support individuals processing traumatic events.

In addition to being a therapist I have had the opportunity in the last 2 years to be a Clinical Manager for a private practice in Cape Coral, Florida. This has allowed me the ability to develop leadership skills, support clinician’s growth, and the opportunity to learn about business. I enjoy being a therapist, because I feel that I am entrusted every day with the clients most valuable thoughts and feelings. It is an honor to work towards supporting clients in reaching their mental health and recovery goals.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

What We Believe

“This is more than just a job for us.  We believe in guiding our clients to discover their truest potential and self worth through utilizing a client centered approach.”

Our Approach

We are a mental health clinic in Fort Myers, Florida that uses evidenced based approaches such as cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), behavioral interventions for children struggling with attention and behavior challenges, and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT).

We help to create a treatment plan with research-based approaches to best meet your goals and needs for therapy. Our hope is that you walk away from each session with new tools for your coping skills toolbox, a new perspective on your current challenges, and new skills in managing your day to day stressors.

The therapeutic relationship is an important factor in this process, which is why Present Mind seeks to create a safe and comforting environment for their clients. We want to provide as much support and guidance as you move forward in the therapeutic process.

Sessions are typically scheduled on a weekly basis to provide consistency, build rapport and trust, and most effectively facilitate change. Treatment frequency and duration will vary depending on your goals. We focus on a collaborative approach with our clients and ongoing communication is important to us.

What Clients Say

“When I found Maribel, I was severely struggling. I knew almost immediately that she was someone I could trust and lean on during my hard times. I am happy to say that she has helped me into a much better version of myself, but has continued to be someone I come to for everything. She is understanding, open-minded, never judgemental, and has a way of sharing advice without being preachy. In a world where it’s hard to find good help, she is a light and a blessing. I’m so grateful for her, and I would recommend to her anyone and everyone given the chance.”

“I am the grandmother of Ms. Nank’s client. Our family was in crisis and I was at my wits end trying to find someone to help us. I found Ms Nank’s name. I called her and left a message and she responded that day. From the moment I spoke to her I knew we were in good hands. I remember telling my son and daughter-in- law we hit the jackpot. Her gentleness and soothing way gave me hope and calmness. I was very impressed by her background with working with children. It was a battle getting my grandchild to the first appointment. But all went well with Ms Nank’s gentleness.  After 6 months things were a lot better. It’s been 3 years and Ms Nank has been in touch with us off and on about how my grandchild is doing. At this time we are having another crisis. I reached out to Ms Nank and she patiently listened and has been very helpful to our family. She has been God sent to us and I know we will get through this with a good family and a great  therapist. We can move mountains as a team. Thank you Vanessa Nank.”

“My experience working with Ms. Maribel has been a breath of fresh air. I’ve had many trials and tribulations in trying to find a therapist that understood me without making it seem like my problems were all in my head. I’m so thankful for Ms. Maribel, she’s like a bestie, sister and mother all wrapped in one. I always leave my sessions feeling validated and motivated to push forward. So much love and respect goes out to my favorite person!!!”

“I’ve been seeing Vanessa since 2022, and I truly don’t know where I’d be without her. From the very beginning, she’s helped me understand and manage my anxiety and panic attacks in ways I never thought possible. She’s guided me through deep emotional work, helped me reframe harmful thought patterns, and always creates a safe, non-judgmental space to grow.

Since moving to Florida from Michigan, I’ve gained a completely new perspective on life and learned how to trust myself—and that’s largely because of Vanessa’s guidance. She’s shown me a new light, and I’m endlessly grateful.”

– Lily

“I’ve been seeing Melissa for therapy on and off for 10 years now, and I can confidently say that the reason I keep choosing to come back as needed throughout the years is because I know she’s going to tell me what I need to hear (even if I may not always want to hear it). She has a way of meeting you where you’re at, and using gentleness when needed while also giving honest feedback about what you’re going through. If you’re feeling like you may need to try therapy for whatever it is that you may be going through or dealing with, I highly recommend going to Melissa!”

– S.T.

“I have been a Present Mind client for a couple of years now. Maribel has been a literal lifesaver for me, guiding me from a deep depression to a place where I am leaning into the positives life has to offer and rediscovering myself daily. It’s still a work in progress, but I am forever grateful for the counseling she has provided. And best of all, Maribel is a genuine, kind person who really cares about her clients. If you have tried counseling and didn’t feel heard, or are just looking for a little guidance to improve your quality of life, give Maribel a call. Your only regret will be not doing it sooner.”

– C.A.

“I have been to other therapists in the past which had deterred me from committing to therapy, until I met Maribel. Maribel has always made me feel comfortable, safe, and has made me a stronger person. Her commitment to her clients is unmatched from anyone else. Maribel is always willing to work with your schedule and shows a genuine passion for what she does and her clients needs.”
